High Pressure Steam Hose Manufacturer in India

High Pressure Steam Hose by Mangla Rubber Industries

Mangla Rubber Industries manufactures high pressure steam hose with a heat-resistant EPDM or chlorobutyl tube, steel wire braid reinforcement and a pin-pricked cover that vents permeated steam. Rated for saturated steam to 18 bar and +210 °C at a 10:1 burst-to-working-pressure safety factor, not the 4:1 used for hydraulic hose, because a steam burst releases vapour at over 200 °C.

High Pressure Steam Hose Specifications

Specification Detail
Tube Heat-resistant EPDM or chlorobutyl (IIR)
Reinforcement High-tensile steel wire braid, one or two layers
Cover Heat, weather, ozone and abrasion resistant EPDM, pin-pricked
Bore range 1/2″ to 2″
Saturated steam working pressure Up to 18 bar (260 psi)
Corresponding temperature Up to +210 °C
Safety factor 10:1 burst to working pressure
Superheated steam Not suitable: use stainless steel corrugated metal hose
Fittings Crimped or bolted steam clamps, or flanged ends
Supply Cut lengths and complete assemblies with whip checks

Saturated steam temperature is fixed by its pressure: 10 bar is 184 °C and 18 bar is 210 °C. Specify pressure and the temperature follows, which is why a nitrile-tube hose cannot be used on steam at any pressure.

Why Plants and Distributors Choose Mangla High Pressure Steam Hose

Applications

Couplings and End Fittings

Crimped ferrules, purpose-made bolted steam clamps, or ASA and DIN flanged ends above 1″ bore. Worm-drive and screw clamps must never be used on steam because hot rubber relaxes and the hose blows off. Gaskets are PTFE, graphite or steam-rated EPDM, and every assembly is supplied with a safety whip check.

Frequently Asked Questions

What temperature can a steam hose handle?

A rubber steam hose handles saturated steam to about +210 °C, corresponding to 18 bar gauge. Superheated steam requires stainless steel metal hose, not rubber.

Why does steam hose use a 10:1 safety factor?

Because the consequence of a steam burst is a jet of vapour above 200 °C at a person, rather than a spill of oil. A steam hose quoted at 4:1 is a hot water hose.

What fittings should be used on steam hose?

Only crimped ferrules, purpose-made bolted steam clamps or flanged ends, always with a whip check. Worm-drive clamps fail as hot rubber relaxes.

Why do steam hoses blister?

Usually condensate left standing in the hose, which flashes to steam inside the tube wall on the next heat-up and delaminates it. Drain every assembly fully after use.
